Since classical times, malachite has been used as a protective amulet. Malachite carved with a sun's face was thought to provide protection from harm, evil spirits, and venomous animals. The concentric patterns of malachite often resemble an eye, and so, naturally, it was also used as a protection from the evil eye. The ancient Egyptians mined the stone to use for decorative purposes and as a green pigment.
An absorbing stone, malachite is excellent for drawing out imbalances from the body. It has also been used to reduce the pain of inflammation and can soothe minor aches and pains.
